McCollum Crowley Obtains Dismissal of Defamation Claims Against School

After termination following investigation of harassment and misconduct claims, plaintiff sued the university for defamation. Cheryl Hood Langel brought  defendant’s motion on behalf of school to dismiss all claims on summary judgment.  In granting dismissal of all claims, the court noted that certain of the defamatory statements were actually shared by plaintiff with the media himself. Other claims were dismissed based upon based upon qualified privilege.
