After a lengthy trial, McCollum Crowley attorney Tim Masterson obtained a defense verdict finding plaintiff primarily at fault when the contents of a pressure cooker allegedly exploded causing plaintiff to suffer extensive third degree burns. The plaintiff was cooking menudo on New Year’s Eve in a pressure cooker. She allowed the cooker to vent to relieve pressure, but when she opened the lid, she claimed that the contents exploded onto her. However, she told the emergency responders and other medical personnel that she had spilled the contents onto herself. The jury did not buy her later version of causation based upon the medical records and other evidence offered into evidence by attorney Masterson including expert witness testimony.
